It was so lovely to see some of my custom 'Sunshine' doodles hanging on the wall in the shiny new 9 Months Later Baby Boutique yesterday! It's a fabulous, newly opened baby boutique in Beeston so if you're in the area make sure you take a wonder down Chilwell High Road and pop in for a browse.
There will be so much going on this Saturday to celebrate the new look of Chilwell High Road in Beeston, including the re-opening of my shiny new stockist Stash Apparel! WOOP! Face painting, competitions, food, music and lots of local shops offering wonderful wares... sounds great huh?
I know I am and I've been working on something a little it special to mark the occasion! Every week I've been chipping away at a little project with the view to reveal the final piece on the day of the final... and that's TOMORROW! YAY!
As I'm brimming with excitement about it all I thought I'd share a peek of the progress over the weeks before I make the grand unveiling tomorrow...
Check back tomorrow evening to see the final Sunshine doodle in all it's glory. I'll be sharing it just before it starts on the telebox! (That's 8pm if you need a reminder!)
Last month I doodled a very handsome chap named Jeffrey and I'm here to share his final portrait with you all...
My friend Claire sent me some beautiful photos of Jeffrey, and he was an absolute pleasure to doodle! I am told that the final doodle will be framed and on display in Claire and Andy's nursery ahead of the arrival of their first baby who is due in November (exciting!)
Before I run off again, I'll just leave you with a couple of photo vs. 'sunshine' pics, hopefully you'll like them and be able to see how I use the photos to create my pet sunshines. And remember, you guys know how much I love doodling for you so please do get in touch if you too would like to turn your favourite person, pooch or pet into a 'Sunshine'.
I'm back again with a little bit of Sunshine for you all! It just so happens that the sunshine is out in Nottingham today too after a super soggy day yesterday. Happy faces all round!
This family Sunshine was given in voucher form as a present for my dear friend April last Christmas. Since then April, her husband and wonderful little girl Martha have had another beautiful baby girl, Elsie, join their family.
A couple of months ago I was showered with the cutest photos of them all and started scribbling with a huge smile on my face. It was hard not to smile when you're working with faces as gorgeous as these! Such a beautiful little family, I think you'll agree...
Along side the lovely photos I was briefed with a list of their most favourite things and what to capture in the Sunshine, including April's love of crochet and owls, Sean's fondness of KFC and online shopping, Martha's excitement when she see's Postman Pat on the TV and Elsie's overall cuteness. Needless to say I had great fun creating this doodle for my friend and her family and I am pleased to be able to share the finished piece with you - I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed doodling it (which was an awful lot as you can probably tell!)
I donned my bright yellow wellies and ventured into the rain today to send a little parcel of sunshine to The Harley Gallery. I'm very excited that you will soon be able to find my Little Black Cats and friends there!
Not only will you be able to treat yourself to sunshine in the Craft Shop there soon but I will also be bringing a stall of sunshine to the fabulousChristmas Art & Food Market too! So make sure you have the 29th & 30th of November in you diary and pop along for a lovely weekend festive shopping and amazing food!
Still... Halloween is only 4 weeks away so why not get involved by getting your very own familiar? You too can have Little Black Cats following you around with this choice of cute Little Black Cat stud earrings, a sleek looking brooch and matching necklace from my latest jewellery collection!
All available on my Folksy and Etsy shops now so go grab yourself a spooky treat! Meow!
A couple of months ago the lovely Katie approached me about designing a logo for her new business, 'Baking for Brains'. When Katie told me about her experiences, her plans and what it was all for I couldn't resist helping out. Below is a snippet from her original email to me...
'Baking for Brains' to raise money for The Childrens Brain Tumour Research Centre at The Universirty of Nott'm. It's to support research, as they get little funding compared to other charities & for an intraoperative mri scanner at the QMC. The scanner will allow surgeons to scan people' (children & adult) brain & or spinal cord whilst in surgery for accuracy & to ensure all tumours are removed fully where safe to do so. Meaning people won't have to have surgery, have a scan post op once recovered to find there's a bit left, then to have to go through surgery all over again to get that 'bit', which is what happens sometimes now sadly. The scanner is new innovation & will be the 1st in the UK, it will benefit people living in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire & as far out as Lincoln. The research will benefit worldwide. Having had a brain tumour op last nov it's something I want to support to give back my thanks.'
I hope you'll agree, it's such a fantastic cause and when a project like this involves cake too I can't see any reason for people not to get involved and show some support!
After working with Katie closely between us we came up with an idea and some designs to showcase what the project was really about. The design below is our final creation, a bold, simple yet fun representation of what 'Baking for Brains' is truly about.
